FESTIDANZA.

Polka: Is similar to the Waltz, only it is a much faster rhythm. The style and lyrics are an expression of mischief and joyous celebration of life. It is also called "polquita", an endearment term, which shows the warm feelings that these songs evoques among Peruvian people. Like the Waltz, it is also typical of the coast and shares with it instruments, interpreters, and songwriters. Some of the most popular ones is "La Pitita". This year our class performance this typical dance in the Festidanza. Here we can watch some videos and pictures before an after the activity.

FATHER´S DAY.

On June 13th we celebrated Father’s Day at our school. During the first hours of the morning our students shared delightful lessons with their parents. They painted, drew, colored, cut, pasted, and played many funny games with their children. In each activity they developed different activities such as identify phonics and related them to the picture, sing songs, and recite a nice poem. Our students elaborated wonderful cards and presents for their fathers. They prepared a special show to express all their love. Also each committee prepared a delicious breakfast. The students with their fathers spent a wonderful morning having breakfast and enjoyed what their children had done for them. We know that they will never forget this wonderful experience.

Here the song and poem they performed to their parents and some pictures of the activity.

Father
Big and Tall
Large and Small
Fathers everywhere
Who love and care
On Father´s Day
Remember to say,
“I love you so
I hope you know
You pass the test
You are the best.”

Oh, my Daddy.
Oh, my daddy; oh, my daddy,

Oh, my very special dad,
I want to thank you very much
for being my special dad.
Oh, my daddy; oh, my daddy,

Oh, my very special dad,
I want to thank you very much
for being my special dad.

CHILDREN´S DAY.

After the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child was adopted in 1989, the UN General Assembly recommended that all countries choose a day to promote children's welfare. On Children’s Day tribute is payed to all children in the world. Children are loved by one and all. They win over our hearts with their angelic eyes and innocent smiles. It makes one realize that maybe that’s the way God wanted us to be.We hope you did something special with children on that day. The most important gift an adult can give to a child is ‘giving time'.

This August 14th teachers and helpers prepared special activities for our students they watch the story: "The Three Little Pigs", they participated in different competitions and ate their favorite food "Pizza". But the most important of this day was the moment when they prepared special school material for their friends from Sunampe, located in Chincha; in where last year they suffer by an earthquake losing their school material, this activity is to teach the value all they have.

VEGGIE PATCH.

Today more people are looking for healthy and easy ways to consume veggies as a part of a healthy diet. That´s why every year at Saint George School we starts working on the Veggie Patch.Veggie Patch produces vegetarian food that are easy to prepare, nutritional, and delicious. This year Pandas class plant Basil and Parsley. Some information we need to know about Basil properties.

Basil (Ocimum basilicum) (IPA: /ˈbeɪzəl/ or /ˈbæzəl/), of the Family Lamiaceae. Basil is a tender low-growing herb that is grown as a perennial in warm, tropical climates. Basil is originally native to Iran, India and other tropical regions of Asia, having been cultivated there for more than 5,000 years. There are many varieties of basil, that which is used in Italian food is typically called sweet basil, as opposed to Thai basil or holy basil, which are used in Asia. It is prominently featured in Italian cuisine, and also plays a major role in the Southeast Asian cuisines of Thai, Vietnamese and Laotian. It grows to between 30–130 cm tall, with opposite, light green, silky leaves 3–11 cm long and 1–6 cm broad. The flowers are quite big, white in color and arranged in a terminal spike. Unusual among Lamiaceae, the four stamens and the pistil are not pushed under the upper lip of the corolla, but lay over the inferior.
My children were so excited about planting and learning more about it. Now they have the responsibility of taking care of them and visiting the garden every week to see how it´s growing.

Next month we´re going to sale Parsley in our Harvest Day.

Sports Day.

Four colours: yellow, white, blue, red – One Heart
That was what we lived on Saturday June 14th, in the Sports day. It was a great moment to share with parents, to get together, to compete but above all……… To have fun! This year, I should say in comparison to other years we had a bigger participation from the Upper students. They showed themselves very enthusiastic in games such as basket, volley and football. Lower and Infants also showed that great Saint Georgian spirit by playing each game with all their strength. We cheered each other on and played fairly. It was amazing to see that all the students from yellow house were together to give their best. We should also mention that the other houses had the best spirit; however, yellow house was so motivated this time.
It should also be highlighted the flawless job of the House Captains, judges, and Physical Education Department who were restlessly working to make this event successful, as it has been!
Thanks parents for your support and enthusiasm!

Feelings.

Feelings was a nice theme because children try to imitate or guess their friends facial expressions. Interact and show his or her feelings while they sing the songs. Here we have the song they have learned and drawings about what makes them happy.

Song: If you`re Happy.

If you're happy and you know it, clap your hands.
If you're happy and you know it, clap your hands.
If you're happy and you know it,

And you really want to show it,
If you're happy and you know it, clap your hands.

If you're mad and you know it, stomp your feet.
If you're mad and you know it, stomp your feet.
If you're mad and you know it,
And you really want to show it,
If you're mad and you know it, stomp your feet.

If you're sad and you know it, cried bubu.
If you're sad and you know it, cried bubu.
If you're sad and you know it,
And you really want to show it,
If you're sad and you know it, cried bubu.

WHAT MAKES ME HAPPY?

XIMENA.
